31 Days of Music – Day 4

Today’s pick is Dead or Alive – You Spin Me Round (Like A Record). I love Pete Burns always made me laugh with his eccentric way of life and indeed he was larger than life. He worked at Probe Records in Liverpool and back in the 80’s it was a great place to hang out and see all the odd people, which I fitted in with, and quite a lot of famous faces came and went.

Pete died in 2016 of a cardiac arrest, which was not surprising due to his wild lifestyle.

  1. Paul Rudd and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon did a shot-for-shot remake of this video and the result was quite entertaining, even if Paul Rudd’s take on Pete’s vocals were a little nasal-sounding. (They also did remakes of the music videos for “Too Much Time on My Hands” by Styx and “King of Wishful Thinking” by Go West; Jimmy also previously did a remake of the video for “More Than Words” by Extreme with Jack Black.)
